Video: About the Healthy Smiles Ontario Program
Does your child really need dental care, but you don’t have the money to pay?
The Health Unit may be able to help. It has a program that pays for dental care for children with serious dental problems.
Your child/teen may be part of this program if they:
- Are under 18
- Have dental pain, infection, large cavities, bleeding gums or have hurt their mouth
Your child /teen may be part of this program if you:
- Have no dental plan
- Cannot afford to pay for your child/teen to go to the dentist
Is all dental care covered?
No. Only basic care is covered such as fillings, x-rays, taking out teeth and some root canal treatments.
How can I get my child into the program?
Your child needs to be seen by Oral Health Services at the Health Unit. You must have your child’s dental care approved at the Health Unit before treatment can start.
Your dentist may send a treatment plan and x-rays to the Health Unit for approval for funding.
Can anyone ask the Health Unit to look at a child’s teeth?
Yes!
How?
Call the Health Unit at 474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808. That’s all there is to it! |
